Take advantage of the new online bankruptcy application process.
Filing at your local county court no longer required.
The way in which people must file their bankruptcy petition changed significantly on 6 April 2016. The petition process via the local county court has been replaced by an online bankruptcy application which is considered by an Adjudicator within the Insolvency Service.
This new system strips out one of the most stressful aspects of making your self bankrupt- going to court.
And there's more good news as well because the total bankruptcy fees payable reduce from £705 under the old court application process to £655 under the new system.
We spend a lot of our time working along the Fylde coast and particularly in the town of Blackpool. As a tourist centre Blackpool is home to many small businesses operated by sole traders and partnerships. At Kealey Consulting, we work with accountants and solicitors in the town to deliver a first class service to their sole trader and partnership clients who find themselves in a financially distressed position.
At Kealey Consulting, we tell all our clients that bankruptcy should always be seen as a solution of last resort. We will always look to see whether other solutions are better. Often times an IVA (Individual Voluntary Arrangement) will provide relief from creditor pressure and allow you to carry on trading. In other circumstances, perhaps some kind of debt management plan will be better still. If you have just one or two creditors, a more direct approach to your creditors might be better.
